On 25th October 1955, the Swedish fighter-interceptor Saab 35 Draken, performed its first flight.
Development of the new Swedish supersonic interceptor, intended to replace both Saab 29 Tunnan and Saab 32B Lansen fighter aircraft, began already in 1948. It featured an innovative double delta wing design and became the first fully supersonic aeroplane designed and developed in Western Europe.
