Saab signs GlobalEye AEW&C Contract with France

On 30 December 2025, Saab announced that it had signed a contract with Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA — the French General Directorate of Armaments) for the purchase of two GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft.

The agreement also covers the necessary ground equipment, personnel training, and technical support. It also includes an option for the DGA to purchase two additional GlobalEye aircraft in the future. The deal is estimated to be worth approximately SEK 12.3 billion. The aeroplanes are to be delivered to Armée de l’air et de l’espace (the French Air and Space Force) between 2029 and 2032.

“Today’s order underscores the robust partnership between Saab and France. By selecting GlobalEye, France is investing in a highly modern and capable Airborne Early Warning & Control solution. This choice reinforces France’s commitment to sovereignty and strengthens Europe’s overall protection, with both Sweden and France operating GlobalEye,” said Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.

The GlobalEye aircraft is an advanced, multi-domain AEW&C platform. Equipped with a selection of advanced active and passive sensors, it can detect and identify objects at long range in the air, on land and at sea. The GlobalEye provides real-time information to air forces, armies and navies improving their ability to detect threats early and enhancing their situational awareness of the surrounding areas.

It is also worth to mention that, in November 2025, Saab signed a global cooperation agreement with Canadian Aviation Electronics Inc. (CAE), to work together on providing advanced training specifically designed for Saab´s Airborne Early Warning (AEW) platforms, including the GlobalEye Airborne Surveillance Platform.
