2025 European air show season – news and updates (3)

Every year, we are bringing your attention to some of the upcoming aviation events in Europe and sharing our experiences from their previous editions, as well as telling you the reasons, why we consider them interesting and worth visiting.

And here is the third part of the 2025 European aviation events review, selected for you by our editorial team – obviously, it will be a purely subjective choice of events and should not be considered as an ultimate guide:

Czech Republic

Although we have already informed about the country´s biggest civilian air show, Aviatická pouť (the Aviation Fair), in a few previous articles, the newly announced participants of the event are worth mentioning here.

First of all, RAF Station Czechoslovakia has just confirmed that the new addition to its collection – Avro Anson Mk I bomber aircraft – is going to have the Czech public premiere at the Pardubice show. The Anson MH120 ´Annie´, successfully arrived to the Czech Republic last Sunday, flying from Belgium, where the aircraft was assembled after a long ship journey from New Zealand.

The Anson is currently the sole airworthy example of that type of aircraft in the Northern Hemisphere. According to the RAF Station Czechoslovakia, ´Annie´, together with another aircraft from the collection, de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moth biplane. will be part of both static and dynamic displays of the event.

Another good news is that Hawker Hurricane aeroplane that recently joined the Točná collection is going to take part in the opening flypast, together with the Czech Air Force aircraft.

Regrettably, there is also the first cancellation from the flying display programme. It regards the airworthy replica of Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe and the reported engine issue that forced the first combat jet to stay at its home airfield in Manching, Germany.

The 33rd edition of the Aviation Fair will take place this weekend, on 7th and 8th June 2025, at Pardubice airfield.

Two weeks later, on 21st and 22nd June, the 2025 edition of Letecký den Břeclav (Aviation day Břeclav) will take place at Břeclav, a town in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic.

Letecký den Břeclav is one of the traditional, annually organised, Czech regional aviation events. This year, the show invites the public for aerobatic displays of Mélanie Astles, Martin Šonka, Karel Kuthan and Niebergall aerobatic duo, as well as dynamic performances of Lockheed L-10A Electra, Follow-Me Team (flying with four Zlín Trenér aircraft), Beechcraft T-34 Mentor, Boeing Stearman, Beechcraft C-45H Expeditor, L-39C Albatros and Robinson R44. Worth mentioning is also the joint display of Yak-3 and Bf 109 replicas that are going to perform a simulated dogfight from the World War II years.

On 25th June 2025, the Czech Ministry of Defence will organise public presentation of all branches of the armed forces, as well as the police, fire brigade and other government agencies.

The show, named Modré nebe nad Českými Budějovicemi (Blue sky over České Budějovice), will take place at České Budějovice airfield and will include several static and dynamic displays of the Czech Air Force. The list of showcased aircraft includes CASA C-295, L-410 Turbolet, JAS-39 Gripen, L-159 ALCA, UH-1Y Venom, AH-1Z Viper, Mi-171 and W-3A Sokol.

Please note that the event is going to be held on Wednesday, not during the weekend.

Poland

On 14th June 2025, Płock airfield will become the world’s capital of rotorcraft, due to international helicopter and autogyro rally to be held there.

Światowy Zlot Śmigłowców (World Helicopter Rally) will be organised at Stowarzyszenie Aeroklub Ziemi Mazowieckiej (Mazovia Land Aeroclub Association) airfield already for the third time (our report from 2023 edition of the show is available here).

Programme of the event includes the FAI International Helicopter Races – for the first time since 1981, with participation of the military pilots – aviation exhibition, catering and entertainment zone, expert and discussion panels, as well as meetings with pilots.

The event is open for public, with free entrance, however, please note that prior registration of visitors is mandatory.

Germany

Last Saturday of June is the date of this year´s edition of the annual open-doors event of the German armed forces – Tag der Bundeswehr.

This year, the event will be held at ten different military facilities across the country, including two air bases – Fliegerhorst Schleswig/Jagel (Schleswig/Jagel Air Base) in Schleswig-Holstein and Internationale Hubschrauberausbildungszentrum (International Helicopter Training Centre) of the German Armed Forces in Bückeburg, Lower Saxony.

More information about the event can be found in our article – Tag der Bundeswehr 2025 – the date and locations are already announced.

Eurofighter EF-2000/Luftwaffe, Sanicole Airshow 2024

Belgium

Regrettably, we have to notify you that traditional spotter event at Kleine-Brogel air base, related to the International Sanicole Airshow, will not be held this year.

Although popular among aviation enthusiasts, this annual event was cancelled due to works on the main runway at Kleine-Brogel. Only a few air show participants will operate from the nearby base, using the parallel runway, while majority of aircraft will perform their displays arriving from Beauvechain and other airfields.

In addition, the air show organizers informed that there is no possibility to use the regular spotting corners at the Belgian air bases. As stated in the official announcement, ´the regular spotter corners cannot handle a large crowd, these will be closed by the airbases, in the run-up to and during the event, in order not to compromise general safety´.
