Combat aircraft of the Serbian Air Force and Air Defence recently participated in a tactical, live-fire exercise codenamed ´Winner 2023´ (Победник 2023), organized by the 4th Army Brigade of the Serbian armed forces. For ten days, elements of the Brigade, supported by aviation and units subordinated to Ministry of Interior, were training elements of a tactical offensive at Pasuljanske Livade training ground.
The main objective of the exercise was to focus on offensive operation with elements of counter-insurgency activities and included simulated combat in urban environment, as well as coordination with the Air Force and Military Police.
According to the official release of the Serbian Ministry of Defence, special attention was paid to intelligence data collection and processing – with use of the recently introduced equipment, force protection and continuity of logistical support that was provided to units participating in the operation.
During the joint training operation, all available resources and equipment were used – tanks, armoured combat vehicles, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missile systems, various artillery systems, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and reconnaissance systems.
The Winner 2023 exercise was attended by high-ranked Serbian military authorities, such as Army Commander Lieutenant General Milosav Simović, Head of the Operations Directorate Major General Tiosav Janković, and Head of the Training and Doctrine Directorate Brigadier General Muharem Fazlić.
