AeroSpool WT9 Dynamic Club-TOW

AeroSpool WT9 Dynamic Club-TOW (c/n DV062/2004, OK-JUU 43), Kunětice airfield, June 2025.

The WT9 Dynamic is one of two ultralight and light-sport aircraft manufactured by the Aerospool aviation company, based in Prievidza, Slovakia. Introduced to the market in 2001, the aeroplane is the ninth design developed by aviation engineer Tadeusz (Tadeaš) Wala. However, it should be noted that some publications in the Slovak press suggest that the initial concept of the Dynamic was created by Marián Barus and subsequently further developed by Wala.

Born in 1932 in the then Czechoslovak part of the Cieszyn Silesia region, Wala is a Slovak aerospace designer of Polish descent. He graduated from both Polish and Czech technical institutions and, in 1971, developed his first aircraft, an aerobatic glider designated the WT1.

In the following years, Wala designed or contributed to the development of several aerobatic gliders and ultralight aircraft. Additionally, he took an active part in domestic and European gliding competitions.

The WT9 aircraft was developed between 1996 and 1999. The aeroplane entered the aviation market in 2001 and has since been manufactured by the aforementioned Aerospool company.

The aeroplane is made of carbon fibre and features a cantilever low-wing design. The WT9 has an enclosed cockpit with two seats in a side-by-side configuration and, depending on the version, can be equipped with either fixed or retractable tricycle landing gear. The aircraft is powered by a single Rotax engine from the 912–916 series, generating between 100 and 160 hp, depending on the powerplant variant.

The WT9 is manufactured in both the ultralight and the European/US certified categories. The “TOW”-designated variants are adapted and certified for glider towing. According to information available online, around 970 aircraft from the WT9 family have been manufactured to date. Currently, according to the manufacturer’s website, the sixth and seventh generations of the aircraft are being offered for sale.

In 2013, during the AERO Friedrichshafen show, Aerospool introduced a development of the WT9, named the WT10 Advantic. This new four-seat aircraft is offered as a quick-build kit and is powered by a single Rotax 914 engine.

The WT9 Dynamic Club-TOW featured in our Photo of the Week series was manufactured in 2004. In 2020, the aircraft underwent a complete overhaul at the manufacturer’s facility and was adapted to the TOW variant. The original Rotax 912ULS engine was uprated to 115 hp, and several technical modifications were also implemented.
