At the beginning of January, Boeing announced that the US Army awarded the company a contract to produce twelve CH-47F Chinook helicopters for the Egyptian Air Force.
That purchase, worth 426 million USD, will allow Egypt to replace its current fleet of CH-47D with the newest variant of the Chinook heavy-lift rotorcraft and to benefit from its advanced multi-mission capabilities.
´The F-model aircraft will enhance Egypt’s Chinook capabilities and help effectively accomplish its heavy-lift objectives,´ said Ken Eland, vice president and H-47 programme manager. ´Boeing’s partnership with the Egyptian Air Force remains strong as we continue to work together to modernize their fleet.´
´Boeing is committed to supporting the defence modernization mission of the Egyptian armed forces and ensuring the best capability for Egypt’s national defence and security,´ added Vince Logsdon, vice president of Boeing International Business Development.
The CH-47F is an advanced multi-mission helicopter, equipped with a fully integrated, digital cockpit management system, Common Avionics Architecture System cockpit and features advanced cargo-handling capabilities.
Nowadays, the CH-47F Chinook is in operational service with nineteen Allied countries. However, the US Army and National Guard are the biggest operators with almost five hundred rotorcraft of that type in active service.
Deliveries of the CH-47F for Egypt are expected to begin in 2026.
