At the end of September 2020 we informed about the date of the next edition of Tag der Bundeswehr, a traditional open doors action organized annually by the German armed forces. Just like many others, we were optimistic and hoped that – after a digital-only show held last year – the 2021 edition would again return as regular event.
Regrettably, the current situation with coronavirus pandemic does not look better than it was at the beginning of 2020, and even much worse than it was in September last year.
Therefore, we regret to let you know that, according to the latest information disclosed by the Bundeswehr – also the 2021 edition of Tag der Bundeswehr will be a digital event, available online via official Bundeswehr media channels. All open door events planned throughout the country at military facilities were cancelled.
In this way, Tag der Bundeswehr became another aviation event scheduled for 2021 that was cancelled, as a result of coronavirus precautions. A while back, similar decisions were taken by the organizers of the Danish Air Show, Laval Aéro Show, Paris Air Show (postponed for 2023), Oldtimer Fly & Drive Schaffen and Flygfesten Dala-Järna.
Although the information about cancelled events means a sad start into 2021, such decisions are fully understandable due to current situation in Europe and all over the world. Regrettably, we can probably expect even more cancellations to be announced soon.
