Douglas C-47 Skytrain, the legendary transport aircraft from the World War II, is one of the recently announced highlights of the upcoming, 33rd edition of Aviatická pouť (Aviation Fair) air show.
This iconic aeroplane will arrive to Pardubice airfield, in the Czech Republic, together with three other twin-engine aircraft from the era, Beechcraft Model 18 Twin Beech. All the aforementioned aeroplanes belong to Classic Formation, the Swiss association and display team of vintage aircraft.
Currently, the Classic Formation includes five aeroplanes: Douglas DC-3 Dakota, built 1943 and displayed in the classic Swissair all-silver livery; Douglas C-47-DL Skytrain from 1942 and carrying the US markings from the D-Day period; and three Model 18 aircraft, all built in 1952.
According to the official information from the Aviation Fair team, the aircraft to perform in Pardubice will be the C-47, the military variant of the well-known DC-3 airliner.

Aviatická pouť is the traditional, and currently the biggest civilian air show in the Czech Republic. The event is well-known to all aviation enthusiasts in Central and Eastern Europe and visited by tens of thousands spectators every year. Programme of the Aviation Fair usually includes a broad variety of aircraft, although with particular emphasis on vintage aeroplanes, warbirds and aerobatic performances.
The 33rd edition of the show will take place on 7th and 8th June 2025, at Pardubice airfield. The list of already announced participants – apart from the abovementioned Classic Formation team – includes P-51D Mustang and P-38L Lighting fighter aircraft from the Flying Bulls collection, L-39C Albatros from the CLV Pardubice, which most probably will perform its final flying display at the show, as well as a mixed team performing with replicas of the World War I aircraft.
More information about the show can be also found in our reports from previous editions of Aviatická pouť: 2024, 2023, 2022, 2019.
